Townsfolk doubt Medina will rebuild their rugged ´tourist´ road

Santiago.- Residents of 40 villages along the Gregorio Luperon tourist road, which links them to Puerto Plata province and other north coast towns, say they doubt the government will rebuild the rugged road.

Heavy equipment arrived in the villages La Tinaja and Los Quemados several days ago and started working to expand the road and remove the ruined asphalt.

Although the crews currently work seven days per week, some residents who´ve given up hope that the Government can provide their main desire: conclude the reconstruction of the deteriorated 47-kilometer stretch.
